Yoga for Your Yoni Part II

Last month we discussed the divine, physiological and sexual importance of Yoni strength and the wonderful benefits of sexual alchemy and yoni yoga—working the most sacred muscles in the female body, the vaginal wall and pelvic floor muscles. Now, its time to get started!

The first step is to get familiar and comfortable with locating and isolating the pelvic floor muscles by doing the basic kegal exercises. To do this, you are going to squeeze and release the pelvic floor muscles, and these are the same muscles you squeeze when stopping the flow of urine. Note, you are not squeezing your glutes. Practice doing your kegals on a daily basis, at least 10 sets of 10 per day. Think of a trigger to remind you to do your 10 kegals—every time the phone rings, when you are at a red light, etc. This is the most basic tool you can use in yoni fitness that lays the foundation for more advanced practices, and has profound effects. Doing 100 kegals per day is the basic recommendation for women to maintain health and elasticity in their vaginal walls and pelvic floor. For women experiencing urinary incontinence, more than 100 kegals per day is prescribed. Regardless of your health status, just start and have fun! You are never too old or too young to create a stronger and more powerful yoni.

Once you get familiarized with the kegal exercise, do a simple self assessment to see where your yoni strength is now. Set the timer, and for one minute straight do as many squeezes as you can. The first time you do this, you may be able to do between 30 and 60 squeezes, which is typical for women when first pursuing yoni yoga practices. As your yoni strengthens and fortifies, you will notice an increase to over 60 squeezes, up to as many as 120 per minute. By doing this simple exercise throughout the week and tracking your numbers once a week, you can notice your improvement as you continue your yoni practices with constancy.

Keep up with these simple, yet powerful, exercises, and be sure to tune in next month for the next phase of yoni yoga.
